Manningham Toy Library is a not-for-profit community based organisation that is operated by a volunteer Committee of Management. Manningham Toy Library leases the grounds and building from Manningham City Council and the Council promotes our services and assists us with events and grants.
In 1984 a volunteer committee of parents established the toy library under the name Doncaster & Templestowe Toy Library. In 2009 the library members voted to change our name to Manningham Toy Library to better reflect our local area. Despite this name change it is not a requirement of membership to live in the Shire of Manningham, in fact we have many members who travel from further afield to use our service.
The committee is elected annually and manages the toy library’s resources, sets policy and organises special events and fundraising. The committee employs a part-time library manager for a few hours per week to coordinate all of the volunteers, catalogue new toys and manage missing pieces and broken parts. The manager also hosts open sessions, advises on toy selection when required, oversees the counting volunteers and signs up new members.
Run by it’s members, the Manningham Toy Library is a friendly place where parents and carers can borrow a large variety of quality educational toys, puzzles and games on a regular bases. It also an excellent source of information regarding age-appropriate toys and activities.
